Why Now?
It’s been more than a year since the Prop B election, and while we have made strides toward stronger discipline, we are still missing key pieces to better civilian oversight and accountability and there are a number of areas of concern.

The Central Library launched a pilot program to place armed SAPD officers part-time in addition to their contracted security. This increased police surveillance is a method of intimidation that makes many marginalized communities feel unsafe in their own library, and invites potential violent escalation by police to our library patrons. We must protect our free spaces – COPS DON’T BELONG IN LIBRARIES!
SAY NO TO ARMED COPS IN THE LIBRARY!
Fill out the (central) library customer satisfaction survey and include you ask to keep cops out of the library.

ACT 4 SA condemns the crimes against humanity committed by the apartheid state of Israel. This is not a conflict or war, but an active genocide & brutal occupation that has been ongoing for decades. We will always call for an end to the human rights violations, occupation, and genocide of the Palestinian people or any peoples across the world facing state sanctioned violence. We encourage you to learn more and take action with us!
From donating, to signing petitions, boycotting, and calling on legislators to take action, there are a number of ways to get involved!
C/O Texas Civil Rights Project
Restore Voting Rights for formerly incarcerated Texans
We’re calling on Chair Hughes and the Senate Committee on State Affairs, and Chair Shaheen and the House Elections Committee, to schedule hearings for SB 631/HB 4594, which would restore voting rights to people on probation or parole, and SB 2227/HB 590, which would require the state to notify individuals when they’ve regained eligibility to vote.
STOP HB 2486
HB 2486 creates a secret file for certain conduct records of police, deputies, and jailers that cannot be shared with “any agency or person” outside of a law enforcement hiring agency.
Access to records enables lawmakers and communities to identify areas of success or needed improvement in law enforcement and is essential for gaining community trust. The bill has passed out of committee to the House floor. Tell your State Representative: Vote NO on HB 2486!
Below you can find a call/email script, contact info for your district’s council person, & talking point regarding the budget.
We will follow up with you during early voting to help create your vote plan and give you information on your closest polling location.
