Statement on the Brutal Killing of Renee Nicole Good

Today, ACT 4 SA stands in rage and grief over the brutal murder of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Renee was a 37-year-old mother, artist, and community member who was shot and killed by a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during an enforcement action, just hours after the federal government announced a major immigration crackdown in Minnesota. Local leaders and eyewitnesses report that she was acting as a legal observer, documenting and witnessing the actions of ICE agents when she was gunned down.

We mourn her loss not just as a tragic death but as a devastating example of how unchecked federal police power, embodied by ICE, terrorizes everyday people and immigrant communities. ICE is the largest federal law enforcement agency in the country, operating with more funding than most other law enforcement bodies combined, with few transparency requirements, no obligation to wear body cameras, and the ability to execute arrest and detention actions with minimal local oversight. This tragedy is not the first time we have seen ICE react rashly and use violence against community members, protestors, and individuals in custody alike.

Let’s be clear: ICE is not an abstract immigration office — it is another arm of law enforcement. Its actions on our streets, in our homes, and in our communities are state violence. The killing of Renee Nicole Good is unacceptable, unforgivable, and emblematic of a system that places enforcement above human life.

We stand committed to ending ICE terror, to demanding full accountability for Renee’s death, and to resisting the continued systemic oppression and state violence that separates families here in San Antonio and across the nation. We will continue organizing, building power, and fighting until ICE is held accountable and their terror on our communities is ended. Renee Nicole Good’s life matters and her name will not be forgotten.
