We were devastated to learn on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that our “Say Their Names” mural honoring the lives of 14 local victims of police violence had been badly vandalized. The faces and names of victims were blacked out, and spray paint was also used to cover up the faces of many victims’ family members.
Police violence is a major problem in San Antonio, and its devastating effects cannot be covered up with spray paint. These are real people who lost their lives, real families who lost their loved ones. We will not be silenced on the need for true public safety not reliant on police!
