Oct 21 2023, SAN ANTONIO, TX — On Saturday, October 21st from 2-4 PM at Milam Park, local community members will honor the many lives lost to police violence in Bexar County. This event is in solidarity with events across the nation in solidarity for October 22nd (O22), a National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality, also known as National Anti Police Brutality Day. The event is hosted by the Marquise Jones Foundation and ACT 4 SA.

Included in this memorial space are the pictures and names of: Marquise Jones, Charles “Chop” Roundtree, Kevin Johnson, Melissa Perez, Andre “AJ” Hernandez, Norman Cooper, Emmanuel Mora, Baltasar Rodriguez Jr, Damian Daniels, Gilbert Flores, Kevin “Splash” Johnson, Antronie Scott, Bill Jones, Darrell Zemault Sr, and John Peña Montez. A birthday card will also be present for the community to sign for Andre “AJ” Hernandez, a 13-year-old boy shot by SAPD police in 2022. The event is just one day after his heavenly birthday.

“We can’t let their names die. We need everyone in the community to help us keep our loved ones’ names alive, to continue to support both the families and the movement for change so no more lives are stolen by police misconduct and violence,” said Deborah Bush, aunt of Marquise Jones who was murdered by SAPD in 2014.

Surviving family members will speak to share their continued struggle in the fight for justice, as well as share how they want their loved ones to be remembered, shedding the truth on these dear community members who have had their character destroyed by both media and law enforcement alike.

WHEN: Saturday, October 21st from 2-4 PM

WHERE: Milam Park, 500 W. Commerce, San Antonio TX
